Negative Distractions Will Cause Limitations

Everything demands your attention. Today, devices, email and social media all vie for your heed at any given moment. The cost of these distractions to your personal and professional lives is well documented. Researchers at the University of California, Irvine found that it takes a typical office worker 25 minutes to return to the original task after an interruption, and an experiment by the authors of The Plateau Effect: Getting from Stuck to Success found that work interruptions decreased accuracy by 20 percent.

If It Had Not Been For The Lord Where Would You Be?

In the UK it’s black history month. As I look back at where God has bought us from, like the Lord says, “through many dangers toils and snares”¦,” all I can say looking back and reflecting is “if it had not been for the goodness of God, where would we be?” Some wouldn’t be alive today. […]

It’s a truly horrible thing to live in fear, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. But when you have anxiety, living in fear is a way of life.

Equipped for the Journey: Walking In The Footprints Of Jesus Christ

Our discussion of God’s will has brought us unavoidably to God’s Word, the living and powerful tool which God uses to transform our lives and prepare us to carry out his perfect plan. There is no way we can overemphasize the Word in our discussion of divine guidance. The Word is God’s primary provision for steering us on the path of his choosing. It is the basic equipment we need to follow his plan.

Keep Believing: God in the Midst of Our Deepest Struggles

The biggest barrier to faith is life itself. Divorce. Cancer. Infertility. Death. There are times in our lives in which God seems very far away. We don’t understand His silence. We only feel the intensity of our pain and the echoing question of ‘why?’

God Will Move Your Toxic Boss

A lot of us in the working world have more than likely had a tough boss to work with. I’d like to define “harsh bosses” as those who are hard to please, excessively critical, impatient, and–I must add–unappreciative.

God rewards the righteous

Notice today’s verse doesn’t say that God rewards those who “deserve” it, or have “earned” it. It doesn’t say that God rewards those who act perfectly and never make mistakes. No, God’s blessing isn’t based on our performance, it’s based on our faith, our belief in Him, and His goodness. So do you want a […]

Let It Go!

Look Closely. A long shadow may be clouding your future. It’s the shadow cast by the pain in your past–the parent who wasn’t there, the ex who betrayed, the boss who humiliated you.
Or perhaps you’re stuck in place by the unhappy residue of your own bad choices–the job you should have left earlier, the sexual secrets you keep, the doctor’s visit you delayed.

It is heart-stoppingly easy to get stuck in the darkness of bad memories. They are emotional quicksand and exert a strong downward pull on the psyche.

Repetition Deepens Impression

One of the first words my older granddaughter learned (way before giving me a name) was ‘more!’ Coupled with ‘again!’, these are key words in a toddler’s vocabulary. She is gradually learning the value of manners (‘more, please!‘), but this desire for repetition (often to the point of mind-numbing boredom on the adult’s part — how many ‘Wheels on the Bus‘ videos can there be?!) is a key factor in the the child’s learning armoury.

Dear Depressed Christian: If You Do Nothing Else Today, Please Read This

Is there an issue in your life today that you would like to put a stop to? Maybe it’s a certain behaviour, addiction or bad attitude that isn’t pleasing to God. When Adam and Eve disobeyed in the garden, the first thing God did was to put clothing on them. They needed to be covered. […]

Greater Than Pizza, Movies And Ice Cream

I’m always disheartened, bewildered and even confused by the way we use the word “love,” prompting the question “what is love?” We love food, movies, clothes and sports, but we also love our family or spouse. In the Word of God, we see God’s true definition of love. First Corinthians 13 tells us that “love […]

What is the meaning of I AM WHO I AM?

As important as the salvation of Israel from Egypt is, it cannot properly be understood unless it is framed within the revelation of God’s twofold character as expressed by God’s own declaration and as displayed in the burning bush.

How to Reset Your Joy in God

You started last year with a tankful of gas – overflowing with energy, motivation, joy, and optimism. Twelve months on, you were empty, running on fumes, joyless, and dreading the new year. You wonder if you can even go another day, far less another year.
