Alexander Hamilton: Hymn Writer

For the last three years of my life, I’ve researched and written about the spiritual life of Alexander Hamilton. The most moving example of Hamilton’s spiritual life I found was a hymn he wrote at the age of fifteen. Alexander’s wife, Eliza, kept a copy of this hymn, called “A Soul Ascending Into Bliss,” until the day that she died.

Our team set this hymn to music for the release of my book, God and Hamilton: Spiritual Themes From The Life of Alexander Hamilton & the Broadway Musical He Inspired.  It offers a snapshot into Hamilton and his relationship with God.
