Transform the World by Telling People About Jesus

Sharing our faith can be daunting at first, but it becomes so much easier once we realise that it’s simply sharing the love that God has already shown us. Whether we realise it or not, we’re on a mission field and (Matt. 28:19) is a reminder that, as Christians, we’re called to share the gospel with those who don’t know the truth wherever they may be. There is no secret formula, but we’ve put together a few quick tips that can help you if you’re not sure where to start.

Pray often.

…this is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us…

God regularly gives us opportunities to share the good news, however, don’t limit what He can do through by relying on you – Pray, ask for courage, and believe that the Holy Spirit will give you the words to speak. Jesus tells his disciples not to worry what to say, “for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you” (Matthew 10:20).

Be ready.

Peter 3:15 – But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear…

When your friend asks you what you believe, don’t hold back! Trust that God has given you the ability to share His life-changing truth. If it’s on a public comment or something, continue the conversation in private by messaging them. Say you’re happy to talk about it with them, then”¦ talk about it!

You can start by saying you believe that God is our creator, but that our choice to sin separated us from Him. Explain that, because of His great love for us, God the Father sent Jesus His only son to take the punishment that we deserved. Talk about how we can be in perfect relationship with God our Father again if we accept Jesus as our saviour, and explain how the Holy Spirit comes to live within us as our personal guide through prayer study and worship.

Ask questions.

Remember – not to talk at  your friend the whole time.  Instead, respect where they are on their own personal journey. They could have a very distorted image of God. It’s good to ask questions to better understand and discern what to share.

Share your story.

Your testimony is far more powerful than you think, so share it with your friend. Why? Because it automatically shows them who Jesus is in a very real and personal way! Sharing how God has changed your life can be super encouraging. Be vulnerable by sharing your own struggles or difficult circumstances you have gone through, and explain how God used those times to bring about good things. Your testimony reflects God’s glory.

Every single person has a unique, inherent worth'

…every single person has a unique, inherent worth’…  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in…

Be a good friend.

You can’t expect to gain permission to talk about tougher topics in life unless you’re first willing to develop friendships with those you want to influence for Christ. One thing I will always stand by – Actions speak greater than words. Your friends will remember how you’ve treated them. We should be friends with non-believers, investing in their lives and loving them wherever they’re at. If your friend is going through a really difficult time, be the first to comfort and encourage them and have a willing heart to help in any way needed. Those can be some of the best ways to share Jesus.

  1. Remember we are to pass through the final crisis such as never was. Scorned and hated by the world and we must still love them. These little trials are preparing us for those just ahead.

  2. And we pray for each other that our faith fail not. And so I will lift you up in prayer. I too have just gone through a similar or worst situation at my work place. In fact the senior management decided to terminate my contract without proper notice and without following stated policies and procedures. As legally trained my big temptation was to fight it as it was an easy case to win. But after much prayer God showed me its what we will have to go through and more, yet show the love of God to the same people. Its not easy on our own but with God all things are possible. And The Father has blessed me. He will bless you too bro as you remain true to Him.

  3. God is in control brother. As long as you are a surrendered trusting child of the Father, this has not taken Him by surprise and you can trust that if He has allowed it then it is for your best good. My encouragement would be to look to Jesus and not the situation. Like Peter walking on water keep your eyes on Jesus and not the angry waves that may try to come between. Jesus will not let you sink. Even if you get distracted cry out to Him and He will lift you from sinking. Remember He said in this world we shall (for sure) have troubles BUT we are admonished by Him to be of good cheer. And He tells us why,,, because He has overcome the world. So look to Him and be of good cheer.

  4. The key to reaching the world is evangelism plus disciple-making. Paul told Timothy in II Timothy 2:2, “And the things you have learned from Me in the presence of many witnesses, these commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” There are four generations of Christians in that verse: Paul, Timothy, faithful men, and others. The following statement is hypothetical, but possible. If you led on person to the Lord next year, helped that person grow spiritually and taught him/her how to share the Gospel message. Then the following year both of you led a person to the Lord and helped them grow spiritually. If this process continued each year, the entire population of the world, at the existing growth rate, would be reached for Jesus Christ. Do the math: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 . . . . Each generation has the potential, by God’s enabling, to reach their world for Christ. The Lord Jesus knew what He was saying when He told His disciples, and tells us today, to “make disciples of all nations” Mt 28:19-20).

  5. Thank you. I don’t mind at all. I asked God recently if He would increase the traffic to my site because I don’t want to use commercial tools or methods, and I don’t want to monetize it. God is using you as part of the answer to my prayers. He works in amazing ways and I hope you will share in my excitement and praise to Him.

  6. There is truth in your statement, but I myself and many other Christians I know had the greatest desire and enthusiasm about sharing their faith as new Christians. We communicated what we knew, and people could see it was real because the change in our lives was so obvious. It took me some time to polish up my presentation of the Gospel by learning more verses of Scripture and understand the means and applications, but like Andrew and Philip, we have something to say and people to say it to. Thank you for responding.

  7. One of the things I was taught as a new Christian was how to share my testimony in three minutes. You can always make it longer, but sometimes you only have 3 minutes. What it was like before becoming a Christian (one minute), how I became a Christian (one minute), What happened in my life after making Jesus Christ the Lord of my life (one minute). If you can say it in three minutes and have all the key info, you can share your testimony anytime, anywhere, to anyone who’s interested. Take the challenge, write it down, memorize it, and adapt it or extend it, as the situation allows. I dare you to put it in writing! You’ll be glad you did, and so will everyone who hears it because it demonstrates that you care, because you are prepared and organized.

  8. I agree with you that evangelism is a key component is spreading the good news of Christ and his kingdom. I believe you are on track with encouraging the believer to tell his or her story. I think what is often misunderstood is the context of when these things are to be done. Remember by the time Jesus tells the disciples to “Go Ye,” and proclaim the good news, he has been with them over three-years. He has spent close personal time with them. They have seen him in front of people as well as when he was alone. In other words a very close personal relationship had developed that allowed, one, Jesus to make the “go ye” statement and two, motivated the disciples to obey. When the Apostle Peter met the lame man at the beautiful gate he told him plainly, “but such as I have,” he had a close personal relationship with Jesus. The lame man walked away that day completely healed.
