How To Deal With Life’s Frustration

How To Deal With Life’s Frustration

Life’s frustrations can lead to stress, depression and even despair.  Are you struggling with trying to make a dream come to pass? Are you frustrated in a relationship, trying to make someone else change or live right?

You may have great goals and mean well, however if you are trying to orchestrate things to happen your way, with your own timetable, you are only going to frustrate yourself.  At some point, you have to turn those circumstances over to God and trust that He has your best interest at heart.

The question then is, “How do I turn things over to God?”

Start by making the choice and declaring your resolve. Simply say, “Father, I choose to let You be God of this situation. I take my hands off. I trust You.” Then, choose to worship Him. Worship is one of the best ways to set your heart and mind to the right place. Finally, don’t worry, have faith. Worry is a sign that you are trying to control things without God. Worship is a sign that you are trusting God – You can’t worry and worship at the same time, so let faith be your guide.

Today, don’t carry around life’s frustration. Take the pressure off yourself and turn things over to God. Give Him control – let Him take your setbacks and turn them into comebacks. Don’t give up on your dreams or goals. Remember, the God who holds the universe holds you in the palm of His hand. Trust Him and let God be God in every area of your life. You can do it all things through Christ!

“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him”¦”

(Psalm 37:7, NKJV)

Pray With Me
Yahweh, today I choose to release all my frustrations, doubts, cares and concern into Your loving hands. Father, I refuse to worry and choose instead to trust You. God, fill me with Your peace and Your Spirit. Show me Your ways as I surrender every area of my heart and life to You. Recreate and reshape my dreams, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Move Forward

A Letter to YOU from the Devil

What was your past like? Have you made a decision to forget the negative things of your past? Many people don’t fully understand what that means. They wonder, “how can I forget something that’s happened to me?” But one definition of the word forget is to disregard intentionally, or to overlook. In other words, you have to choose to disregard your past so that it doesn’t keep you from moving forward. That could mean the good and the bad.

Sometimes our past victories keep us from rising higher as much as past failures. Sometimes if we don’t let go of the old, we’ll never be able to embrace the new. It doesn’t matter what’s happened in your history, it’s time to forget what lies behind and live in the present – live forward.

Today, make the choice to move forward. Trust that God has a better future in store for you. Trust that He’s working on your behalf. As you forget what lies behind and press forward, you’ll automatically move forward. You’ll see increase and blessing, and live the abundant life He has in store for you with excitement and vitality!

“I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead”

(Philippians 3:13, NLT)

Pray With Me
Yahweh, today I choose to move beyond my past. Father, I don’t want anything to hold me back from what You have in store for my future. I choose forgiveness and peace. God, help me, by Your Spirit, to press forward into the life of blessings and excitement You have in store for me, in Jesus’ Name! Amen.

Aim For Righteous And Loyalty

In Uncertain Times Christ's Death and Resurrection Offer Comfort and Hope

It has been said that righteousness and loyalty go hand in hand. In other words, if we’re not being loyal to God then we aren’t going to experience God’s best. Loyal people are honourable people. When you’re loyal, you stick with someone through thick and thin. When you’re loyal, you keep your word to people even if you get a “better” offer.

Loyal people honour their parents and defend their family. Loyal people are respectful.  When you’re loyal, you are a person of integrity. You build trust with others. Is this an area where you can rise higher? Are you faithful in the things you’re committed to? Can you be more loyal?

Today, don’t let the distractions of everyday life keep you from being dedicated to God, family and friends. Look for ways to show honour to those around you. Is there something you need to set aside for the sake of a loved one? Show love by staying loyal. As Scripture promises, when you pursue loyalty and righteousness, you will find the abundant life God has for you!

“He who pursues righteousness and loyalty finds life”¦”

(Proverbs 21:21, NASB)

Pray With Me
Yahweh, thank You for the promise of life in Your Word. Father, please show me any area where I can rise up higher by pursuing loyalty. Help me, by Your Spirit, to be more committed and supportive to those around me. God, let Your light shine through me, as I pursue righteousness and loyalty today, in Jesus’ Name! Amen.

You Won’t Be Alone Anymore

You Won't Be Alone Anymore

Jesus had many names that identified His character. One of those was also Emmanuel, which means “God with us.” Before Jesus came to earth, the Spirit of God resided in the temple. The people had to go through all kinds of rituals to become clean enough to go near to Him.

As believers today, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, He is the one who cleanses us and makes His home in our hearts. He becomes one with us, closer than the air we breathe. Isn’t it good to know that God is always with us?

Today, I want you to know, God’s peace is always with us. His joy is always with us. His power is always with us, and His victory is always with us. The next time you feel alone, think about this Scripture. Know that He is near because you serve Emmanuel–the God who is always with you!

“Behold, the virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel-which, when translated, means, God with us.”

Matthew 1:23, AMPC

“Immanuel (Hebrew: meaning, “God with us”; also romanized Emmanuel, Imanu’el) is a Hebrew name which appears in the Book of Isaiah as a sign that God will protect the House of David.”

Pray With Me
Emmanuel, thank You for choosing to make Your home in me. Father, thank You for filling me with Your peace and joy. God, I bless You today, knowing that You will never leave me nor forsake me, in Jesus’ Name! Amen

Your Blessing Is On It’s Way

Your Blessing Is On It’s Way

Sometimes it seems like God is taking a very long time to answer your prayers. Many times, people can miss God’s best simply because they give up before they see their blessing come. Don’t let that be you! Be encouraged today, your answer is closer than you think. If it seems like things are getting more difficult, remember, when the intensity heats up, that means you are closer to your victory.

It always seems darkest just before the dawn. Remember God is faithful, and He’s working on your behalf. Don’t cast away your confidence today, because your reward is coming. And just like a new mother forgets about her labour pains once she is finally holding her newborn, you’ll forget about your struggle when you are holding on to your promise. Today, while you are waiting on God, keep an attitude of faith and expectancy. Wake up every morning and say out loud, “I’ve come too far to give up now. My blessing  is coming. I will reap my harvest.” Stay in faith and look for His hand of blessing, because He has promised you victory, and it’s closer than you think!

“Do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.”

Hebrews 10:35, NKJV

Pray With Me
Yahweh, today I stand believing that You are working things out for me. God, give me Your strength to stand in faith, until I see every promise You have for me fulfilled in my life, in Jesus’ Name! Amen.

Been in the Secret Place Lately?

What if I told you that at the end of 2018, we will know more of God’s splendor?

That we’d fall on our faces in tears at seeing Him in His beauty?

That it will break our heart over how we’ve neglected Him?

Bobby Conner spoke these words in early August at a teaching on The Secret Place held in Moravian Falls, North Carolina. For five decades, Bobby Conner has ministered worldwide as a seasoned prophet of God. Uniquely anointed with a profound, passionate love for Jesus Christ and a fervent desire to discern and herald God’s voice to prepare the Lamb’s Bride to establish God’s Kingdom, Bobby is called to awaken the warriors to arise and contend for the true faith.

I savored the opportunity to set aside the duties of daily life and immerse myself in scripture. It felt like a long, luxurious soak in a warm tub, the purity of God’s Word washing me clean as the fragrance of His Spirit energized my spiritual senses.  I try to set aside a few days each year for this type of conference to keep myself on track with the Lord.

Reasons to Schedule Time in the Secret Place

  1. The secret place is a person, not a place. Coming into the secret place is meeting with God, just you and He alone. I know you know this. I’m just reminding you to emphasize the person you are meeting with over the location.
  2. Frequenting the secret place often keeps us moist and pliable clay in the potter’s hands. Who wants to be dried out, brittle clay? The Master Potter can only create beautiful vases from moist, pliable clay. Only the Holy Spirit saturates. Two hours a week on Sundays evaporates readily.
  3. The secret place to me is sitting before God’s fireplace, the place of fiery passion where I acquire His fire and my heart is forged in His flame (Isaiah 60:1-5). It is where our zeal, passion and commitment are strengthened like bonded steel. As a  result, His glory shall be seen upon us! The wind of the Holy Ghost fans the flames of hunger within us – we hunger for deeper knowledge of God the longer we stare into His flaming eyes of love and listen to His Word echoing within.

My heart was hot within me. While I was musing, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue.  Lord, make me to know my end and to appreciate the measure of my days—what it is; let me know and realize how frail I am how transient is my stay here (Psalm 39:3-4 AMPC).

He wakens Me morning by morning, He wakens My ear to hear as a disciple [as one who is taught]  (Isaiah 50:4 AMPC).

Sow for yourselves according to righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God); reap according to mercy and loving-kindness. Break up your uncultivated ground, for it  is time to seek the Lord, to inquire for and of Him, and to require His favor, till He comes and teaches you righteousness and rains His righteous gift of salvation upon you (Hosea 10:12 AMPC).

In Part 2– Pathway to the Secret Place I will share more on why we want to luxuriate there, what it is and what it does for us. You won’t want to miss it!

Troubled Heart, Take Refuge in God

Let Not Your Hearts Be Troubled

All around me are troubled hearts. It just seems that around every corner, in every news story, on social media, and in my small little burg hearts are broken, abused, and trampled. Are all of our prayer petitions for naught? Where is God?

Last night at my book club gathering at our local public library, a former student saw me and quickly came in for a big hug. Gosh, how they grow. I said, “You’re a senior now, right?” He told me he was and how he had plans to enters trade school in Nashville, Tennessee this fall. I was over the moon. You see, most of my students were minorities from severely impoverished homes. I preached setting goals, getting an education, and championing poverty. I, myself, was born in the government projects with a struggling mom, an alcoholic father, and four siblings. I so often felt like I was seeing a classroom full of me as I taught. I had figured out the code of breaking the cycle of poverty: God, education, and service. I held a precious key that I hoped they would accept. Sadly, not all of them do.

He then said, “Did you hear about DTay?” A shadow crossed his face. I said, “No, what’s up?” He lowered his head and eyes and replied, “They found him dead and beaten to death on Old Mill Road by the tracks down from the Eastside.” My heart crumpled within my chest. Only 18 years old and a life tragically ended. These things shouldn’t happen in rural, small towns in Tennessee like mine, but they do. It is a statistical fact. In the U.S., black males ages 15-34 number one killer is a homicide. My heart is troubled. We hugged again and I told him to get his education and my prayers were with him and all my students until my last breath.

This morning I opened my devotional to begin my day. The first verse was John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” I felt like Thomas. I’m lost and I do not know the way out of this mad, mad world that young men die so brutally and often. Let’s not forget cancer, addictions, the shrinking middle class, divorces, and abject poverty. Then I heard, “I am the way. I’m always with you. I’ve gone before you to create a better place. There are many rooms in my Father’s house.” I took a deep breath remembering my student. I know that those rooms are for lost youth, broken people with addictions, and those who struggle to eek by on this earth. My joy has always come from knowing God is for and with me. This isn’t our last stop. If you have a troubled heart today, I urge you to say a simple prayer, “God help me.” God is within those banged up hearts, just open your heart to Him.

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

Extra! Extra! Read All About It!

I decided to guest post for this publication, as I wanted to gain more of an audience to share my work with. I spent hours and hours brainstorming and praying for something exciting to tell you! After much thought, I decided to give it a break since I could not come up with anything that hasn’t already been told.

When I woke up this morning, the verse Deuteronomy 4:9 came to me. I immediately realized that I was neglecting the greatest piece of news ever told. It may have been told before, but it was like God was saying, “Tell it again!”

Whenever you have good news, the first thing you want to do is share it with someone.

Why is it that when it comes to the things of God, we hold back?

Are we embarrassed by our faith? There might be that one person that God is trying to reach out to, and if we aren’t receptive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, God has to find someone else to do His work. The bible says that if we don’t worship God even the rocks will cry out. (Luke 19:28-40) The bible says to always be ready to give an account to anyone who asks you to explain your faith:

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer  to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,  keeping a clear conscience,  so that those who speak maliciously against your good behaviour in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”  1 Peter 3:15-16 (NIV)

If you are a newer Christian, you may feel that God hasn’t done anything significant in your life thus far, so you have nothing to share with others. I am here to tell you that we all have something to share. You may still be waiting for that monster of a miracle that says, “Yes, this is God!” I have news for you: God has done more for you and I before we were even born, and because of that we all have a responsibility to preach the good news.

“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15 (NIV)

Jesus died on the cross so that you and I could live our lives in abundance. (John 10:10) He conquered death so that we might have eternal life! (John 3:16)

If you had something good in your life, wouldn’t you want to share that with the ones you love?

Sometimes we get tired of hearing about the Gospels. It becomes all too familiar with a nursery rhyme. But until we get the message deep down into our spirit, we will never be in line with God’s purpose or realize the urgency of the times. It is the most powerful message we hold as Christians; the whole foundation for our faith. One way or another, everyone has the opportunity to hear the message, but not all will accept it.

We all need Jesus. Look at the big-time celebrities who claim to have everything, only to turn on the news and see one of them overdosed on drugs, in rehab, or worse. What was missing? Did no one tell them about the Love of God?

“Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Acts 3:6

Unless we have the revelation of the Love of God down in our souls, which is what the Gospel message, we will always have that God-shaped hole waiting to be filled. Only He can fill the void in our hearts. We need the Love of our Creator. We can search the whole world for riches, but it will leave us empty. We go searching in all the wrong places and listen to all of the wrong people. But what good is it to gain the world, if we lose our soul? (Mark 8:36)

Deuteronomy 4:9 says that we should be careful not to forget the things that God has done for us or others so that we might use them as a testimony to others.

“However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived,” the things God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

If you read a good book and decide it is amazing but never talk about it with anyone, that book may never get read by another person and sit somewhere collecting dust. The media is full of reviews about movies, books, and even people! Why do we keep Jesus quiet?

When you share your testimony with someone, it builds their faith. As faith comes by hearing the word. But we cannot only be hearers of the word, we need to be doers. (Romans 10:17)

“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” Romans 10:17

For those who do not know Jesus: I can testify that Jesus can save the chief of sinners because He chose to save me. None of us are without sin (Ecclesiastes 7:20), but because of LOVE, God robed himself in flesh and died on a cross; taking on all the sin and shame that none of us could bear, and saving us from destruction. (John 3:16) Death is not a permanent thing for us anymore, because of Jesus. His name is the most uttered name on this earth today, in forms of blessings and curses. His name is the most controversial name on the planet. But, it is also the only name by which men can be saved. (Acts 4:12)

If you have tried everything else, and nothing has worked in your life thus far, what do you have to lose? Give Jesus a place in your life today, and watch miracles unfold. It doesn’t matter what you have done, or how bad the things are that you have done, He chooses you.  The good news of the day is, “Jesus Loves You.” That’s worth shouting from the rooftops!

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
