Get Rid Of The Old

As I took a long hard look at my life, I realised that in order for me to get to the next level and move into my next chapter, I have to get rid of the old. Are you ready for a new chapter in your life? In order to move forward into the blessings God has for you, you have to be willing to let go of the old. The things that are behind you are not nearly as important today as what is out in front of you. It’s time to get ready for the “new”!
Some unfair things happen, things that you don’t understand. But let me tell you, you have come too far to stop now. Despite what others may say and what you think, instead of allowing those things to hold you back, why don’t you let go and take a step of faith into the new? It’s time to get a new, bigger vision; it’s time to get a new, fresher outlook; it’s time to rise up with a new attitude!
Today, instead of settling where you are, pick up and move forward. No matter what has been said about you, have the attitude that says, “I may not understand it; it may not have been fair, but I am not getting stuck on this page of my life. I know God has a new chapter for me – a chapter filled with blessings, favour and victory!”.
“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.” (Luke 5:37)
 
Let’s Pray
Yahweh, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. Father, today I will trust You with my past, present and future. God, give me wisdom to discern the seasons of my life, and teach me to embrace the new things You have in store for me. Cover me from my enemies and the devil who will seek to bring me back into the old. In Christ’s Name, Amen!

Is Your Name Written In Heaven?

Today’s verse is a profound statement, which comes after the disciples return with joy from their mission, marvelling at the power they had over demons. Yet, Jesus redirects their focus from the temporal to the eternal.
In this verse the phrase “your names are written in Heaven” signifies much more than a mere acknowledgement of identity; it represents our secure and permanent citizenship in God’s Kingdom. To have our names written in Heaven, means we are recognized, known, and cherished by the Almighty. It is a declaration of our belonging, our adoption into God’s family, and our inheritance of eternal life.
Today, our Heavenly registration is not based on our merits or achievements but solely on God’s grace through faith in Christ. It is a gift that assures us of our salvation and eternal home with God. This assurance should fill our hearts with a deeper joy than any earthly success or spiritual victory. It should shape our identity, guiding our actions and decisions, reminding us that we are not defined by what we do, but by who we are in Christ. We must not lose sight of this eternal perspective. May the joy of knowing our names are written in heaven surpass all earthly pleasures and accomplishments, keeping us anchored in God’s love and promise of eternal life.
“However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:20)

Yahweh, thank you for the promise that my name is written in Heaven. Father, I am grateful for the assurance that I belong to you and that I have a place in your Kingdom. Lord, help me to remember that my joy should not come from the power I have in this world but from the fact that I am your child. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Persecution Will Come

Every Christian is called to live lives that reflect the character of Jesus Christ. This calling comes with challenges. Paul’s words to Timothy remind us that godliness often invites opposition. Persecution is not an anomaly but a certainty for those who follow Christ wholeheartedly.

You may ask ‘why living a godly Christian life attracts persecution?’. The values and principles of the Kingdom of God often contrast the world’s ways. When we choose to walk in love, integrity, and truth, it can unsettle those around us who our lives may convict. Jesus Himself warned that if the world hated Him, it would also hate His followers.

Today, how should we respond to persecution? First, we should not be surprised or discouraged by persecution. Instead, see it as confirmation that we are walking the right path. God’s word encourages us to consider trials as opportunities for growth, developing  perseverance and maturity in our faith. At all times we must rely on God’s strength. Prayer, scripture, and fellowship with believers is crucial for staying strong. Remember “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”. Hold on to your faith. When opposition comes, let it drive you closer to Christ, knowing that you are part of a larger story of redemption and hope.

…everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. (2 Timothy 3:12)

Yahweh, I come before you today, claiming the promise in your word that says, “…all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” Father, I desire to live a godly life in you and I know that persecution may come my way. But I trust in your strength and your grace to help me endure and overcome any trials that may come. Lord, I pray that you would give me the courage and boldness to stand firm in my faith, even in the face of opposition. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on you and to trust in your promises. Thank you for your faithfulness and for the reassurance that you are with me always. In Christ’ name, Amen.

Just To Be Close To You

One thing I desire is to be counted among those who intentionally draw near to Jesus. Near to the One who saves us, loves us, and pours immeasurable grace and mercy into our lives. The One who leads and guides us, strengthens us, and never leaves us.
In the bible, we are reminded of folk who desired to be close to Jesus. I remember Mary, at the feet of Jesus. John, the beloved disciple, leaning on the chest of our Lord. David, the psalmist whose soul thirst for God. Enoch, walking close beside Him—so close, in fact, that God just walked him on up to Heaven, completely bypassing death. The list could go on and on. I want my name to be included with those who have deeply desired intimate communion and fellowship with the Lord. Don’t you?
Today, I want to draw near to the Lord who wakes me up each morning and reminds me that this new day He has made is a day to be glad. And I am glad—deep in my heart, glad that I am His and He is mine. I am grateful that I have the privilege of walking in a close relationship with Him. Let’s live each day for Him and with Him and be counted as one of God’s closest friends. There is no better place to be. 
“The LORD is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18)
 
Let’s Pray 
Yahweh, I thank You that You desire to spend time with me. Father, Your Word says if I draw near to You, You will draw near to me—and I want to be close to You. So, right now, I ask that You cause me to desire to draw close to You above everything else in my life. God, help me to have supernatural time management, help me to see clearly when I can set aside time to spend with You, and help me never to compromise that time. In Christ’s name, Amen.

God’s Word; Fire & Hammer

The Bible describes Gods Word as fire and hammer. Fire signifies its ability to purify and refine us. Just as fire burns away impurities, the truth found in the Scriptures challenges and removes the impurities within our hearts; sin, doubt, and fear refining us to reflect more of God’s character. It warms our hearts with His love and lights our path with His wisdom.
As a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces, God’s Word also speaks to its capacity to shatter hardness. Our hearts, often hardened by sin, pain, or scepticism, can become responsive and tender under the persistent work of God’s Word. It breaks down barriers, opens wellsprings of understanding, and plants seeds of transformation.
Today, engaging with God’s Word is not a passive activity; it’s an encounter with a force that has the power to change. As you look into your Bible, allow it to work deeply within you. Let the fire of God’s Word purify your heart and the hammer of His truth break down any resistance, transforming you into the likeness of Christ. We should approach God’s Word with openness and expectation, ready to be changed through its powerful impact on our lives.
 
“Is not my word like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29)

Yahweh, give us faith to receive your word, it’s fire and hammer as mentioned in Jeremiah, understanding what they mean, and the will to put them into practice. Father, we thank you for the gift of your Holy word. May it be a lantern to our feet, a light to our paths, and strength to our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Are You Hurting?

If you are hurting in this season, remember these points:
He knows. He sees. He understands. Pain is real – He felt it. Heartbreak is inevitable – He experienced it. Tears come – His did. Betrayal happens – Life happens.
Christ is the hope for the broken-hearted. He loves deeply, in ways we can’t even fathom. When your heart breaks, when the pain comes, when the whole thing seems like more than you can bear, you can look to God. Look to Him at peace in a manger. You can look to Christ on the cross. You can remember the hope that comes from his resurrection.
The pain won’t leave. But His hope will swaddle you tight. His gentle mercy will hold you until you can breathe again. What you long for may never be, but remember He is and is to come. You can trust that, even in today’s hurt.
Be patient and kind to yourself. Give yourself extra time and space to process your hurt and reach out to others around you if you need extra support.
Find a cause to invest in. There is a saying, “grief is just love with no place to go.” Find a cause that honours the memory of a loved one. Giving time or money to a suitable charity can be helpful, as it gives expression to the love in your heart.
Create new traditions. Hurt changes us. Sometimes it is helpful for us to change our traditions to create a new normal. If you have a tradition that feels unbearable, don’t do it. Instead, consider doing something new. Creating new traditions can help alleviate some of the added sadness old traditions often bring.
Today, you may be overwhelmed, bruised, and broken, but there is still goodness to be welcomed and blessings to be claimed this season, even in pain. There will be times in the future when you will feel stronger and lighter, and these very difficult days are part of the road to them. So accept whatever gifts God has for you. You may not fully open them for years, but unwrap them as the Spirit gives you strength, and watch the heaviness and hurt disappear.
“And in the same way the Spirit is a help to our feeble hearts: for we are not able to make prayer to God in the right way; but the Spirit puts our desires into words which are not in our power to say.” (Romans 8:26).
Let’s Pray
Yahweh, thank You for Your greatness. Thank You that when I am weak, You are strong. Father, the devil is scheming, and I know he desires to keep me from spending time with You and those I love. Please don’t let him win! Give me a measure of Your strength so that I might not give into discouragement, deception, and doubt! Help me honour You in all my ways. In Jesus’ Name! Amen.

The Law

The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were the leading citizens among the Jews. They knew what God’s law said and they would tell people how to apply it. But they were hypocrites. Adding their own laws on top of God’s laws, thinking that would “protect” the law of God. Yet in doing so, they violated the spirit of the law, which is love.
Scripture shows that we do the same as the Pharisees if we add our own standards to God’s law. “Surely a Christian would never listen to that kind of music, or wear those clothes, or dance, or . . .” We might think we are being especially zealous for the law of God by adding our restrictions. But God desires love, not legalism.
Today, if we Follow human standards while ignoring God’s call to love, it can lead to terrible results like a misrepresentation of God. It has led to racism: like apartheid in Africa and slavery! It has led to sexism: “She asking to get raped.” It has led to nationalism: “This country was better off without them.” This misrepresentation and hypocrisy will condemn us on the day of judgment. Laws that do not aim at love for all people are not God’s laws. The Ruler of heaven and earth is not fooled by distorted rule-following masking our hatred for his creation.
“You must be careful to do everything [the teachers of the law] tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.” (Matthew 23:3)

Yahweh, please forgive me when I set up false standards. Father, forgive me if I have judged others unlovingly and misrepresented you. Lord, help me to love everyone as you do. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Be Ready

The unpredictability of Christ’s second coming underscores the importance of living each day with purpose and vigilance. It is a call to remain spiritually alert, not allowing ourselves to be lulled into complacency by the routines and distractions of daily life. Instead, we should cultivate a deep and active relationship with God, ensuring that our hearts and minds are aligned with His will.
Being ready for Jesus’ return involves more than just waiting passively; it requires a commitment to growth in love and faith, a dedication to serving others, and a readiness to share the gospel. It is about embodying the values and teachings of Christ in our actions and interactions so that we are living testimonies of His love and grace.
Todays verse serves as a stark reminder that the return of Christ will be sudden and unforeseen, challenging us to maintain a constant state of readiness. The unexpected nature of Christ’s return lets us know that our time is precious and finite. We must embrace each day as an opportunity to draw closer to God, deepen our faith, and share the message of hope in a world that needs it so desperately.
“Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” (Matthew 24:44)

Yahweh, I come in Jesus’ name to thank You for all the information in Your Word, about Jesus’ return to earth. Father, I wait eagerly for that day when You make everything perfect and deliver me from the work of the evil one. What a beautiful day that will be, to see you face to face and be swept into your loving arms. Please direct me to be watchful and always ready for your return because no one knows the day. In Christ’s name, Amen.

It Won’t Be Long

Amid trials and tribulations, the words of our Lord resound with a clarion call, “I am coming soon.” This promise is a message of hope, reminding us that our struggles are temporal, and the eternal glory awaits those who persevere. As believers, we are called to hold fast to our faith, and the precious crown bestowed upon us through the grace of our Saviour.
The crown represents our salvation, our victory in Christ, and the rewards that await us in heaven. It is a symbol of our identity as children of God, chosen and set apart for His glory. However, the journey is fraught with challenges, and there are forces at play that seek to derail us from our path. The enemy prowls like a roaring lion, looking for whom he may devour. Therefore, we must be vigilant, steadfast in our faith, and anchored in the Word of God.
To hold on to what we have, means to cling to our faith with unwavering resolve. It means to stand firm against the tide of temptation, to resist the allure of worldly pleasures, and to endure hardships with patience and grace. It is a call to remain faithful to the teachings of Christ, to live a life that is pleasing to Him, and to be a beacon of light in a darkened world.
Today, as we await Christ’s return, we must remember that our crown is not just a future reward but a present reality. It is a reminder of the victory we have in Christ, a victory that empowers us to overcome the world. So, let us hold on to what we have, for in doing so, we secure our crown and ensure that no one can take it away.
“I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.” (Revelation 3:11)

Yahweh, I don’t know when You’re returning, so prepare me right now. Father help my mindset to be alert and my life to be restrained and disciplined. Teach me to arm myself with faith and love. Help me to process every decision through the lens of salvation. By Your grace, God I want to build a personal culture that’s vigilant, attentive and filled with gratitude and my spiritual senses sharpened. Lord, I refuse to lay down and let life pass me by. I’ll take advantage of every opportunity to expand Your Kingdom. You’ve appointed me to live out Your purposes. I will do it and I’ll also encourage others to do it as well. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Opinions

God’s Word calls us into a posture of acceptance and understanding within the Christian community, especially concerning “opinions”. This refers to issues where the Bible does not provide direct commands or prohibitions—areas where believers are free to hold differing viewpoints. These may include dietary habits, what we wear, or other practices not central to salvation.
Paul’s instruction to not quarrel over opinions, is a reminder that our unity in Christ transcends individual differences in non-essential beliefs. The early church, like ours today, was diverse, with members coming from various backgrounds and holding varying convictions on disputable matters. Paul emphasizes that such diversity should not lead to division but rather be approached with love and respect.
Welcoming those weak in faith doesn’t mean we dilute the truth or compromise essential doctrines. Instead, it means we recognize the journey of faith is different for each person, and we’re called to support one another in love, without causing disputes over non-essential issues.
Today, as we consider how we approach disputable matters within your faith community. Ask yourself this question, are you contributing to unity or division? Let’s strive to create an environment where all can grow in faith, rooted in the essential truth of the Gospel where we can keep our opinions while extending grace and understanding in areas of personal conviction.
As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. (Romans 14:1)
 
Let’s Pray
Yahweh, we ask for your help to set aside our differences that have no salvation value and look to the greater cause, the cause of Christ. Father, we ask that you would help us to truly live a life of love. We know that this is only possible through the power of your Spirit, so we pray for your Spirit to move across our land in fresh ways. God, turn your people back to you. Draw others to come to know you. We ask for your ability to quickly forgive hurts, for a renewed heart of compassion, for love and faithfulness to be evident in every decision and action. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

No Matter The Season, God Will Bring You Through

On my radio show ‘Prayer On Drive’, I receive requests from many individuals who are in difficult seasons of their lives. Things just aren’t going their way, or they’re not where they want to be in life. In these times, it’s tempting to let discouragement and doubt come in and take away the peace and excitement you once had.
If you’re in one of those seasons right now, where you are struggling to truly be happy, this is not the way God wants you to live. He tells us in scripture that even in the difficult times, He is with us. Even when you can’t see a way out, He will make a way through the season. Even when things don’t turn out the way you planned, He has a plan to turn things around and get you through.
Today, don’t get upset or discouraged about your current situation. Instead, be determined to walk through it to victory. Declare by faith that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Declare by faith that you will rise higher and become stronger. Keep standing, keep believing and keep hoping, because God has a bright future in store for you, and you will get through! Hallelujah!
“Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and Your staff protect and comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)

Yahweh, I humbly come to You today giving You this season in my life. Father, I ask for Your peace in the midst of life’s storms.  Thank You for the promise that I will get through. God, give me Your strength to stand strong, knowing that with You, I will walk through every adversity the enemy has in store for me. I claim victory today, in Jesus’ Name! Amen.

Seed

In this season of change and harvest, we are reminded of the power of the seed and the season. Sometimes in this season, we don’t see how God’s promises are going to come to pass. It may seem like there are so many obstacles to overcome. But God’s Word is like a seed. When it’s planted in our hearts, and we water it by thinking the right thoughts and expecting good things, that little seed begins to grow into something much, much greater.
In the book of Mark, we are told that God’s Word is like a tiny mustard seed. When it is sown, it is less than all the other seeds, one of the smallest. But when it grows up, it becomes greater than all. Notice it goes from being less than all, to being greater than all. Are you feeling less than today? Are you in an overwhelming situation, maybe in your health, finances or relationships? Do you see God’s promises as small, compared to what you’re facing?
Today, don’t sit back and think, “man, it’s never going to get any better. It’s never going to change.” Instead, sow the Word by speaking it over your life every single day. Water that seed by staying in faith, because the seed of the Word has supernatural power in it. It can change your thinking, your emotions and your circumstances. It will grow and flourish, and you will see God’s promises come to pass all the days of your life!
“But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.” (Luke 8:15)
 
Let’s Pray
Yahweh, today I will sow Your Word in my heart and mind! Father, thank You that it will not return void, but it will accomplish what it was sent forth to do! God, change my circumstances from less than, to more than, like the mustard seed. Lord, thank You for giving me every good and perfect gift. I bless Your Holy Name today and always. In Christ’s Name! Amen.

A New Season

Getting something new is always exciting. Can you remember the time when you first had a big dream? Maybe you were determined to excel in your career, or as a parent, or maybe you were focused on deepening your walk with the Lord.
You probably started out with enthusiasm, but maybe things got a little difficult, or didn’t happen as quickly as you would have liked. Oftentimes, when things don’t go as planned, people decide, “I’m just going to settle here. It’s not exactly what I wanted, but at least it’s good enough.” In this new season, recognise that you were made for more than “good enough.” You were made to increase, to excel, to grow and stretch.
Today, why don’t you take a step of faith, and embrace the new life God came to give you? Not only does Christ offer new life in eternity, but He offers new life here on earth, with new dreams and visions. Why don’t you pick up those dreams and be determined to see them through? It’s a new day, and He is making everything new in your life! Hallelujah!
“And the one sitting on the throne said, ‘Look, I am making everything new!” (Revelation 21:5)

Comfort Me So I Can Comfort Others

In today’s verse, we are reminded of the beautiful cycle of comfort that flows from the heart of God. He is described as the “Father of mercies” and the “God of all comfort”. His compassionate nature is the wellspring from which comfort flows abundantly.

Scripture reminds us that God’s comfort is not merely for our personal experience but has a greater purpose to equip us to comfort others. We are comforted in our tribulations so that we may extend that same comfort to others who are struggling.

Think of when God’s comforting presence enveloped you in moments of despair or uncertainty. Those experiences were not just for your benefit; they were meant to equip you to be a source of comfort to others.

As recipients of God’s comfort, we are entrusted with a sacred mission. We are called to be conduits of His comfort, bringing peace, hope, and encouragement to those around us who are facing their trials.

Today, we discover that God’s comfort multiplies through us. As we extend His love and comfort to others, we become instruments of His grace, and His comfort continues to flow, touching lives, and bringing healing to wounded souls. We need to embrace our role as comforters, knowing that as we share the comfort we’ve received, we participate in God’s beautiful plan of extending His love and compassion to a hurting world.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

Yahweh, in times of trouble and sorrow, I turn to you for comfort. Father, your love and presence bring peace to my heart. Wrap your loving arms around me and grant me the strength to endure. God, help me to trust in your divine plan and find solace in your unwavering care. Help me to also pass on your comfort to others, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Will Move Your Boss

Do you hate going to work because your boss is a tyrant? Some people are upset because their boss is really against them. Is he/she always trying to make you look bad and never give you any kind of recognition? The truth is that some bosses are just jealous and evil. In cases like this, our job is to give them to God and keep being the best – work unto God. There may be several promotions that you should have received but because of this unfair boss, you were passed over.
One day the CEO of your corporation may be in town, or passing through your department, and see your good work and be impressed. One day because of your prayers, good work and God-like attitude, God might move your boss and make you the boss, or promote you or give you the dream job. Today, instead of working for the unfair boss, work unto God and the tables will turn in your favour. Hallelujah!
Today remember, increase and promotion comes from the Lord. When you stay faithful and keep a right positive attitude, that’s when God will increase you and promote you. One touch of His favour and things will totally turn around! Keep abiding. Keep being faithful. Stay on that high road. God will make your wrongs right and promote you in your due season!
“For exaltation (promotion) comes neither from the east nor from the west nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and exalts another.” (Psalm 75:6-7)

Yahweh, today I humbly submit myself to You because You are good and faithful. Father, I will work and live according to Your Word, because I love You and desire to honour You. God, I receive Your mercy and grace today, so I can live a life pleasing to You, in Jesus’ Name! Amen.
