Lessons From The Nativity

Darkness Won’t Win

This is the Christmas holiday season, the time when many Christians celebrate the birth of Christ. The prophet Isaiah tells us why His birth is such great news for the world. This good news comes to people who are “walking in darkness”, but now those same people “have seen the great light”.

Scripture says in the prophecy of Isaiah, that darkness and light are used to represent sin and salvation. Without Christ, we are lost in the darkness of sin, but because of his birth, we have hope in Yahshua the Light of the world. Through his victory over sin and death, God promises us salvation.

In our world today and in our lives, it can sometimes feel as though the darkness is overpowering. It can seem as though sadness and sin have the upper hand, while the light of goodness and joy are hidden.

God’s promise is true, the light has come to the world in Christ. Isaiah promises a Saviour who will rule the world. “He will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”. His reign will bring peace and joy to the world. “Of the greatness of his government and peace, there will be no end”, Hallelujah! Jesus rules the whole world, and his rule is one of peace. That news along with our testimonies, is light to a darkened world.

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. (Isaiah 9:2).

Let’s Pray

Yahshua the promised one, I look forward to celebrating your birth not just during this season but always. I thank you for the light of hope you have given me. Please help me to always let my light shine before men. In your holy name I pray, Amen.
