Faith Is Like Duct Tape. Pt2

Just like duct tape can be used in a variety of situations, so it is with faith. You might be facing a problem with your grades, or maybe you’re facing a problem with your relationships. Just whip out your roll of faith and patch together that bad situation with what the Bible says. Faith can be used at any time and in any situation. Faith in God is always the answer to the variety of difficulties we face.

What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. Hebrews 11:1 (NLT).

Another comparison with duct and faith is like duct tape, you can rely on its faith. You know that when you need to patch a hole or to hold things together, you can trust the duct tape to do its job. Well, that’s pretty much what faith is. Faith will patch up the holes in your life and hold everything together. Trusting that God is going to go to bat for you. He will provide for you no matter what’s happening.

So what is faith? Faith is just choosing to believe what God says. Faith is trusting and relying on God. I encourage you to put your trust in God and become a mighty young person of faith.

Let’s Talk 2 God

God thank You for the gift of faith. Father, when things are hard and difficult, teach me to trust that you will hold me together and patch up my problems in Christ name, Amen.

Faith Is Like Duct Tape. Pt1

Let’s talk about faith and duct tape, they have a lot in common. Duct tape is probably one of the most useful inventions. It now comes in many colours and serves a variety of purposes, from patching up torn clothes, to keeping some car hose pipes sealed. One summer I was working on a car with my uncle, and a screw ripped a hole in my t-shirt. There weren’t any sewing supplies nearby, so I quickly found a roll of duct tape and patched up my t-shirt. Thanks to duct tape, my t-shirt was held together.

And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God. For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that he rewards the faith of those who passionately seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (TPT).

Like duct tape holding my t-shirt together, faith holds our lives together. Faith is the basis of our relationship with God. Sin has torn this relationship apart, but we have to believe what the Word says no matter what things look like. Faith keeps you together when you feel you’re falling apart. Our faith keeps us going and assures us we will make it, regardless of how ripped we may feel.

Let’s Talk 2 God

God, thank you for the gift of faith that you have promised me. I ask for stronger faith today, so I will be drawn closer to you. Father patch up my torn ripped life today in Jesus name, Amen!

My Fear Has To Stop

David is still in this crazy situation where the king wants him dead. Fear is coming at him from all sides and David is struggling with what to do. In the middle of his struggle, his good friend Jonathan encourages him. â€œDon’t be afraid,” he said. “My father Saul will not lay a hand on you. You will be king over Israel, and I will be second to you. Even my father Saul knows this.” – 1 Samuel 23:17. Jonathan reminds him of what God has said about his life. God has promised David that he would be the next king. So even if things look bad at the moment, the truth remains that David is going to be the next king. Now it was up to David to believe that truth and begin to use that to combat his fear.

Fear stops when we believe God’s Word. The truth is that when God speaks, it has to come to pass. God had told David he would be king. That means that David had to live with that expectation. What God speaks has to happen. The same is true in your life. God has given each of us words from Him. We have promises in the Bible or things that He has spoken directly to our hearts. Those words have to come true because God can’t lie.

That means that your fear has to stop at God’s word. It doesn’t matter what it looks like or what you see. Fear stops when you begin to believe what God says. God speaks the truth. So if He said it, it has to happen.

Let’s Talk 2 God

God help me to believe in your word with the knowledge that my fear has to stop at your word. Father, show me how to find promises in the Bible that speak to my fear. God help to combat the fear in my life in Jesus’ name Amen!

Live in God’s Peace

How many times in life do we get stressed out about something going on? It might be an upcoming test, a relationship with a friend, or some peer pressure you face. It’s easy to internalize those stresses and let them build until they almost feel overwhelming.

However, there’s a better way. That’s what today’s Bible verse talks about (Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:7).It tells us that we can experience God’s peace. In the midst of the chaos, drama and things going on around us, we can be at peace. We don’t have to take on the cares and concerns of the world, rather we can hand our concerns to God because we know He cares for us. Once we’ve given God our concerns, we can live in peace.

Choose today to not take on the cares and worries of this pandemic, returning to school, university, college, or home life. Decide instead to live in God’s peace. Let His peace fill your heart and mind. You can live in peace knowing that God will always take care of you.

Let Talk 2 God

God, thank You for your promise of peace. Please help me through your spirit to give all of my worries to You, so that I can have the peace You have promised me in Christ’ name. Amen!

True Love

1 John 4:20 uses some strong language. It says ‘if you say you love God, but you hate another Christian brother or sister then you’re a liar’. Think about that for a moment. If you don’t love your brother or sister, then you’re a liar if you say you love God. To really love God is to put aside your thoughts and desires for God’s thoughts and desires. To really love God is to treat other people with love and respect. Like that person you can’t stand, or that lady who sings too loud. You’re supposed to love them despite their flaws and shortcomings.

As a Christian you should be different. You should be a person that others are drawn to. When you choose to show extraordinary love to others, you’ll stand out. God is calling you as a Christian to live your life differently. Normally, if someone does you wrong, you would want to get back at them. Instead, you should be striving to be more like Christ and love them anyway.

In future don’t hate when folk drive you crazy, instead of hating or seeking revenge change the narrative. Choose to let God’s love flow through you and be an example to those around you of God’s amazing love. As you love God, you will begin to love others also. That’s what Christian are called to do!

Let’s talk 2 God

God thank you for your love. Please show me how to love like you love. Take away the hate I feel at times and make me the Christian I should be in Christ’ name Amen!

The Domino Effect

Growing up, I hated playing dominos by the rules. Instead, I loved setting up all the dominos in a row. Once I had the dominos set up, I’d knock the first one over and watch as the first one knocked over the second, then on and on. The knocking over happened until all the dominos fell down. This reminds me of Romans 10. Each part of this scripture is like a domino. You’ve got to have one to knock down two, and so on. So what are these dominos?

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! – Romans 10:13-15

Domino One  â€“ To get saved, you have to call on the name of the Lord.

This domino makes a lot of sense. If you want to get saved, you’ve got to ask Jesus to save you. You can’t rely on your works, good deeds or anything else. It’s Jesus who does the saving, it’s a gift from Him.

Domino Two â€“ To call on Jesus you have to believe.

You have to believe in Jesus to call on Him. If you think that you’re saved by what you do or any other way there’s no need to call on Jesus. To call on Jesus, you’ve got to humble yourself and realize that without Jesus you can’t do enough good to get into heaven. You’ve got to believe that Jesus is God’s son, and his sacrifice on the cross was the payment for your sin. How do you begin believing you may ask?

Domino Three â€“ To believe in Jesus, you have to hear about Him.

If you haven’t heard about Jesus, how would you know that you should call on him, or believe in Him? You wouldn’t. You’ve got to build belief in Jesus by hearing about Him. Think about it, the more you hear about a great movie, the more you want to go and see it. The same is true about Jesus to develop the faith to believe Him, you’ve got to hear about Him.

So how do you begin to hear about Jesus?

Domino Four â€“ To hear about Jesus, someone has to tell you about Him.

Like the new restaurant you’ve tried recently. What made you decide to try it? Most likely, someone told you about it. Maybe a friend told you how good it was. The same is true with Jesus. If someone hadn’t told you about Jesus, you couldn’t have called on Him for salvation. When you hear about how good God is, it makes you believe in Him and want to invite Him into your life.

Domino Five â€“ Those who tell others about Jesus are sent.

As you tell others, they will hear about God, then they have the option to believe and finally call on Jesus to be saved. But the process starts with you telling people about what Jesus has done for you. This can cause a great domino effect. Causing someone you know and care for to get saved and to spend eternity with Jesus. So what are you waiting for? Begin sharing Jesus with others today!

Let’s Holla @ God

God help me this week to take some time to think about this scripture. Thank You for calling me to tell others about Jesus, His love and His eternal salvation for all in Jesus name Amen!

We Need A Saviour

James 2:10 is kind of sobering it says: “For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.” This kinda shows us how perfect we would have to be to be accepted by God. We see that if we have ever done anything wrong, if we’ve ever told a lie, ever said something unkind, ever lusted after someone, or anything else that is considered sin, that we are as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.

This shows us that we all need a saviour because we have fallen short. We couldn’t be good enough to be accepted by God. No amount of good work can make up for the fact that our sin separated us from God. Even the smallest sin, the tiniest of white lies was enough to keep us from God.

Here is the good news! God wasn’t okay with that. He wanted us to be able to know Him. So He did what we couldn’t do. He sent His son to pay the price our sin deserved which was death. That’s why now, if we’ve accepted Jesus as our saviour, we are considered righteous. So take a moment today and thank God for making you righteous and taking away your sins through His death!

Lets Holla @ God

God today I’m in need of you. I have broken your laws, I have lied and done unkind things. God help me accept me and forgive me. Thank you for dying. I love you in Jesus’ name Amen!

#6:33movement #Godfirst

In these strange times, we all have many things pulling us in different directions. We want to do good in school or uni so we can get a good job. We want a good job so we can have plenty of money in life. We want to date, maybe get married and live a happy life. We want to make our life count.

How do we balance it all? Jesus answers this question,

“Instead, desire first and foremost God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness, and all these things will be given to you… Matthew 6:33”

In other words, instead of trying to find the balance of which things to put our focus on, He makes it simple. First, focus on God; His Word and His ways. Pray for His help to do the right thing, for you make the right decisions and all these other things in life will be given to you. It’s a promise!

Let’s Holla @ God!

God, today I choose to put Your Word and Kingdom first in my life. It might take some time before I get this done, but I will start today. Help me God to get all things in my life aligned with your ways, know that as time goes on I will make sure that all the things you were concerned about in my life are taken care of beginning now in Christ’ name Amen

Do You Like Yourself?

Liking yourself is really hard sometimes. You can watch your friends on Snapchat, Insta or Facebook, see their profile and start to think, man I wish my life was more like theirs. It’s easy to start comparing what you have and who you are to them and begin to feel like you don’t measure up to them. Liking yourself and thinking positive about yourself can be really challenging. So how do you begin liking yourself when you feel like you don’t measure up to those around you?

3 tips to help boost your self-esteem.

  1. Do a reality check – This can be really tough to do, but take a realistic look at your situation. You might feel like no one really cares about you, but is that really true? It’s easy to constantly let something someone said or did make you think that no one cares about you. More than likely, you have a ton of people who really do care about you. You have parents, siblings, grandparents, and most importantly God that care about you. So when you think you’re all alone and that no one cares, do a reality check and realize that in reality you have people that care about you.
  2. You are what you think so check your thoughts –  It’s easy to get into a negative pattern of thinking about yourself. You can start to believe lies that you’re worthless, or that your life doesn’t matter. In fact, nothing could be farther from the truth. When these thoughts come, recognize them for what they are…lies. Take the necessary steps to switch your thoughts from negative patterns of thinking to ones that are positive. The Bible says in Philippians 4:8 (NLT) “Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.  Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”Checking to make sure your thoughts are good ones is an important step to winning the battle for your self-esteem.
  3. See yourself like God sees you –  Decide to begin to see yourself like God sees you. He doesn’t see you as a failure, as a loser or as anything bad you might think you are. He sees you as important. You’re so important that if you were the only person in the world He would have sent his son to die for you. Your life matters to God. He knows everything about you, and cares about everything that is important to you. God thinks so much about you that the Bible says his thoughts about you can’t be numbered. Psalm 139:17 (NLT) – “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.  They cannot be numbered!”I can count pretty high, so the idea that God thinks about you so much that those thoughts can’t be numbered just goes to show He cares about you a ton and a half. So, decide to see yourself like God sees you. Choose to base your worth on how God feels about you.

I believe that these tips can help you with learning to like yourself.

    Lets Holla @ God

God, the battle for my self-esteem and self-worth is very real. Father, I believe that with Your help, I can change my thinking and come out fighting against my negative thoughts, and win the battle of self love in Christ’ name Amen!

Where Have All My Friends Gone

Have you ever felt like no one cares? Like all your friends have gone? Friendships can be tricky, but here are a few tips to help you not only make better friends, but how to be a better friend and to not be disappointed with the ones you have.

  1. Be Friendly.
One of the best ways to get friends is to be friendly. Do you ever take the time to listen to others? Do you go out of your way to try to talk to others? Doing these things can help you gain friends!
“A man who has friends must himself be friendly” – Proverbs 18:24
  2. Ask yourself: “Am I doing anything to push people away?”
I was really shy in school and because I was short and insecure of that, I didn’t get asked to do much socially. Maybe you’re doing things that annoy or drive people away. Be honest and ask yourself if you are doing something that’s pushing others away.
  3. Not everyone is going to treat you right.
Even if you do everything right, some people are not going to be kind to you. Some people don’t know God and have no basis for treating others with kindness and respect. Life is full of people who aren’t going to treat you right, so realize that and be ready for it when it happens.
  4. Get God’s Perspective.
If you are feeling bad about yourself due to a lack of friendships, don’t. Don’t allow other people to determine your self-worth. Whether you have tons of friends or not, you are worth a ton to God. â€œI will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made.” – Psalm 139:14

Even if you feel like all your friends have bailed on you, realize that God will never leave you. He’s there to help you and love you. No matter what people do to you, God is on your side. He cares about you like no one else can. Don’t allow yourself to feel like you’re not important if others don’t always treat you right. People aren’t always going to do the right thing, so you’ve got to choose to let God’s opinion of you be the one that matters.

    Let’s Holla @ God
God please teach me how to be a true friend and fill my life with positive friendships. Please take away my loneliness. I believe what you say about me “I am amazingly made“ in Christ’ name Amen!
