The Ultimate Historian

Seeing the Past in the Present
Have you ever looked up at the night sky and realised you are actually looking into the past?
Take the Big Dipper, for example. One of its brightest stars, Dubhe, sits between 60 and 125 light-years away from Earth. What that means is simple but mind-blowing: the light reaching your eyes tonight left that star decades ago—long before many of us were even born.
So when you gaze upward, you’re not seeing what is—you’re seeing what was.
It raises a fascinating thought: what is happening out there right now that we won’t know about until far into the future?
A God Beyond Time
Now contrast that with God.
The apostle Paul reminds us that Christ did not begin at any point in history—He exists beyond time itself. While the universe operates on delays—light travelling, events unfolding, discoveries waiting—Jesus is not limited in that way.
There is no delay with Him.
When you pray, you are not sending a message across galaxies hoping for a response someday. You have immediate access to His presence, His wisdom, and His guidance—right now.
And unlike distant starlight, His understanding of your life is not partial or outdated. It is complete.
He Knows Your Story—Fully
There are moments when we struggle to understand ourselves. We ask questions like:
Why am I like this?
Where did this come from?
Sometimes we turn to parents or relatives for answers about our past. They may offer helpful insights—but their knowledge is limited.
God’s is not.
He was there long before you were born. He saw the choices your grandparents made. He understood the paths your family walked. He knows the hidden threads that have shaped your life—things you may never fully see or understand.
Nothing about your story is unclear to Him.
And because of that, His promise stands strong: He will supply your needs (Philippians 4:19). Not based on guesswork, but on perfect knowledge.
The True Authority on Your Life
People will sometimes define you by your past.
They may misunderstand you, judge you, or assume they know your story. But their perspective is always incomplete.
Christ’s is not.
He existed before the stars were placed in the sky—before Dubhe ever shone its light toward Earth. He knows everything about you, and still, He chooses to love you.
“God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8
That is not just history—it is life-changing truth.
Living with That Assurance
When you truly grasp that Jesus knows your entire story—and still stands with you—it changes how you live.
You no longer have to be defined by:
other people’s opinions
your past mistakes
or your own confusion about who you are
Instead, you can stand in the confidence that you are fully known and fully loved.
Apply It
Take a moment today to speak life into someone younger than you. Remind them that their story matters—that their past does not limit their future.
